San Vito’s Day in Forio d’Ischia

From 10/06/2017 to 17/06/2017 : San Vito is the patron saint of the town of Forio d’Ischia, to whom are dedicated 4 days of religious celebrations.

San Vito is the patron saint of the town of Forio d’Ischia, to whom are dedicated 4 days of religious celebrations. For the occasion, the whole town celebrates : its inhabitants and those from the neighbour towns are really attached to it. Numerous tourists wander through the streets during the celebration. It is characterized by two defining moments, which make it unique : the cultural homage to the saint from the faithful through various religious celebrations, and the traditional fair in the center and along the marina, with concerts and fanfares.
 
Program


Thursday the 15th of June : Celebration of San Vito, pontifical Mass at 11 a.m. by His Excellency Pietro Lagnese, bishop of Ischia. At 6.45 p.m., procession around the town, and fireworks at the harbour after the Holy Mass. At 10.30 p.m. in Piazza Municipio, symphony concert by the orchestra Aurora, from the town of Panza.

Friday the 16th of June, at 6.45 p.m. procession in memory of the dead at sea. At 9.30 p.m. in Piazza Municipio, lyric and symphony concert by the orchestra of the town of Forio.
Saturday the 17th of June, at 7 p.m. High Mass, kiss of the relics and replacing of the silver statue of the Saint. At 9.30 p.m. in Piazza Municipio, musical. At midnight, fireworks show.


From the 13th to the 17th June, in the cloister of Municipio, there is an exhibition of iconographies on the cult about San Vito in Italy and worldwide.
